Several days ago I installed Windows 7 Build 7068 on my laptop (Toshiba P300-18m), just to try this upcoming OS of Microsoft. I was very positively impressed!
Now I've made a clean install and run Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit - in its latest (probably the RC) build 7077 - both on my desktop and laptop. Extremely friendly and attractive interface, combined with great functionality, flexibility and stability. I'm totally amazed. WOW!!!
I'm pretty sure that Windows 7 will manage to compete successfully with Mac or Ubuntu and eventually come first again.

I think one should remember that beyond the few kwyclicks needed to get the odd bit of software going, computers are very complicated under the bonnet and it can take a lot of work to get them going.

That's why software builders go to a lot of bother to make them easy to use.

Easy to use does not necessarily mean well-designed, bug free, unlikely to be infected by malware etc.

Unfortunately, though in many ways easy to use Windows is likely to suffer in the ways set out in the last sentence.

So, if you are a fellow-sufferer from computers like me, take your friend aside a simply help them to get their computer working!
